Environmental Testing Portland, OR

If you’re planning a renovation or demolition project in a Portland Metro area home or commercial property, an asbestos inspection early in the process can save you thousands of dollars in costly delays. EnviroTest can conduct a survey of your building – sampling flooring, walls, siding, ceilings, roofing, thermal insulation, and other materials likely to contain asbestos.

Our asbestos survey and reporting services:

  • Require as little as 30 minutes to take samples of suspected asbestos containing materials.
  • Include contracted lab testing and analysis. Full survey reports for submission to DEQ, L&I, and Metro are included.
  • Are lightning fast! Rush jobs and same-day service available.

Remember: In order to dispose of construction and remodeling debris at one of their transfer stations, Metro requires proof that the debris contains no more than 1% asbestos by weight. Commercial waste haulers and landfills will also require laboratory documentation of the contents of the load.

FAQs

1. Are you an asbestos testing lab?

No. At EnviroTest, we are a stand-alone asbestos inspection service for building owners, construction firms, and homeowners. This means that we survey the site for suspect Asbestos Containing Material including collecting samples of materials that may contain asbestos and provide reports based on the tests from our trusted laboratory partners. If you already have an asbestos sample and laboratory analysis is your only need, please refer to this list of labs from State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ): https://www.deq.state.or.us/aq/asbestos/docs/F-LABS.pdf

2. How long does asbestos testing take?

Generally speaking, inspecting your facility and collecting samples of materials that may contain asbestos will take about an hour. If your project requires it, we can generally get the results that very same day.

3. Is asbestos inspection all you do?

Yes, we are a stand-alone asbestos survey company. We are not directly affiliated with any labs or asbestos abatement contractors, so there are never concerns when it comes to conflict of interest.

4. Can you come out today to test for asbestos?

We welcome rush jobs and will do everything we can to get out to your facility as quickly as possible.

5. Is asbestos dangerous?

The biggest misconception about asbestos is that it’s always dangerous. This just isn’t true. As long as asbestos is left alone, it’s generally harmless. It’s when asbestos is disturbed and becomes friable (can be powdered by hand) that it can be inhaled and cause health problems.

6. Do you work with contractors or homeowners?

Both! At EnviroTest, we’re happy to provide testing services to building owners, construction companies, remodeling contractors, and homeowners. While many of our clients are in the construction industry, homeowners often feel empowered knowing where asbestos is located.

EnviroTest can help by inspecting and providing certification that your construction debris contains 1% or less asbestos by weight. If it contains more than 1% asbestos, we can help you find a reputable abatement contractor.

Kandi came out to test and she explained what we needed to know about asbestos as we were clueless. She took the fear away and we had her come back for more testing to be safe and learned even more. Before we do any demolition on our home, we will bring her back out as we remodel our fixer upper. It’s great to have someone you can rely on.
